Cotentin Peninsula

Cotentin Peninsula

The Cotentin Peninsula or Cherbourg peninsula juts out into the English Channel to Great Britain. It offers unique landscapes otherwise unknown along the Normandy coastline. To the West, a granite spine dominates the dunes and beaches. These grandiose, wild sites, the Nez de Jobourg and the Raz de Blanchard, among others, are dreaded by seamen. To the East, a vast granite plateau called Le Val de Saire penetrates slowly into the sea, its beaches alternating with headlands and harbors.
