BS4 – The Black Périgord by bike

Its gastronomy, its architectural and cultural heritage make Périgord an essential destination. This circuit takes you along the river, live at its own pace to reach the most beautiful villages of France. Perched villages such as La Roque Gageac, the prehistoric caves of Lascaux and villages marked by the history of Humanity. Throughout your journey, take the time to taste the wonders that this magnificent region has to offer.

The Hike

Day 1: Arrival in Bergerac
Art and history are intertwined in this village made up of small squares and narrow streets, each more beautiful than the next.

Day 2: Bergerac – Les Eyzies – 61 km
Your day will be a day of history today! You will follow the Dordogne to Limeuil, a village of character at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers. Take the time, if the weather allows it, to swim in a very natural area! The stage ends with the prehistory of Les Eyzies, follow in the footsteps of our ancestors!

Day 3: Les Eyzies – Sarlat – 26 km or 54 km
Two possible routes for this stage. The longest will take you to Montignac in the valley of man to visit the caves of Lascaux and its wonderful museum combining history and modernity by its structure, prepare yourself for an unforgettable visit! The day ends in Sarlat, world-famous for its narrow streets and old shops. Take the opportunity to taste the rich gastronomy of this city, carnard foie gras, cheese and truffle!

Day 4: Excursion to La Roque Gageac and Beynac – 42 km
This day offers you magnificent panoramas and a rich architectural heritage. Direction Domme for its sublime view of the Valley, then Roque Gageac between water and cliff before reaching the village of Beynac and its perched castle! End of the hike at the end of the day.
