Situated on the border with Italy and on the Mediterranean Sea, Provence is famous for its diverse and varied landscapes and its art of living. The scent of lavender, a remarkable historical heritage, azure blue skies, natural horizons… all these assets make this region a very popular destination for many French people. Let us help you discover its potential through two of our Provence hikes.

THE SACRED MOUNTAINS OF PROVENCE

You will discover two of the mountain ranges of Provence: the Ste Victoire mountain and the Ste Baume massif, places of meditation and prayer for thousands of years. These limestone mountains oriented East-West are all born from the alpine fold. They present strong similarities, even height, asymmetrical slopes ending in rocky bars of a bright white which contrasts with the ochre earth or the blue sky. You will be enchanted by these arid but grandiose landscapes, these Provençal villages full of sunshine, amazed by the forest of the Ste Baume with its more northern than Mediterranean species or by the Park of St Pons, an island of greenery and freshness. You will appreciate this last stage by the sea and your return to Cassis by this sublime balcony on the Mediterranean.

THE ALPILLES OF PROVENCE

In the heart of Provence, rises the limestone chain of the Alpilles. From afar, the whiteness of its arid and jagged peaks jagged against the azure blue sky gives us the illusion of great mountains. On the left bank of the Rhône, north of Tarascon, the montagnette is a group of steep hills with slopes covered with aromatic plants and tree-covered valleys. From time immemorial, men have appreciated these magnificent places and have left us many architectural testimonies that you will discover throughout this hike rich in history.
